The answer is definitely "yes" to Cincinnati, Ohio, where officials are working on a plan that would allow the city to be crossed only by renewable electricity already this summer.
The "Queen City" is moving toward a portfolio of renewable sun, through a plan of aggregate energy in collaboration with regional energy suppliers. In Ohio, local communities are permitted by law to bring together citizens, encouraging them to buy energy and demand lower prices for natural gas and electricity.
